It was a very disappointing movie and surprisingly so, since I expected some of the same tenderness and warmth as in "Midnight in Paris". Just like you, I really wanted to like this one, I just couldn't in the long run. Emma is a gem as always; she's got so much charm and spunk and you just want to see more from that girl! But you're right, she's too modern to be believable in a 1920s setup. I like Colin, despite he often plays the same type on screen, but here he was simply a pain in the butt! All that cynicism - that was clearly supposed to be funny - just became too much and the 'transformation' way too cliche! I actually hoped he didn't get the girl in the end, because, honestly, he didn't deserve her (I was about to say, he didn't deserve a girl like Emma)! And I agree, the age difference and absent chemistry didn't make it any better. It just felt so off altogether.M. T.https://www.blogger.com/profile/03316954978752373910noreply@blogger.com
