Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)

“Who are you? Why does the queen want you dead?”
“You should know. You're the one hunting me!”

Yeah I know Snow White and the Huntsman is a movie starring Kristen Stewart who is one of THE worst actresses ever. She is not that much better than she is in Twilight (unfortunately I sat through the first one… what a waste of my life) but the story, Chris Hemsworth, and Charlize Theron make up for her.
So hopefully everyone pretty much knows the story of Snow White since I am assuming you all watched the Disney version sometime during your happy wonderful childhood. If you have not… then I guess you are alright it does not really follow the nice kiddy fantasy one. This Snow White is incredibly dark and twisty. Charlize Theron as the Ravenna the Evil Queen is possibly one of the best and most twisted antagonists I have ever seen. She was perfection. The story goes that after the original Queen had died a dark army had taken advantage of the King’s grief and attacked his army. The dark army was defeated leaving behind a wagon and in the wagon a beautiful woman was chained as a prisoner. The King thought she was the most beautiful thing he ever saw and married her the next day. Unfortunately for him Ravenna is an evil sorceress who kills people to keep her beauty. She kills the king and takes over the kingdom and throws Snow White in a tower.
Several years later Snow White is still in the tower. Ravenna’s beauty and power begins to fade because Snow White’s fairness and innocence is forming. Snow White gets out of her cell when Ravenna’s brother tries to put the moves on her and she cuts in the face with a nail. Ravenna is pissed and sends the Huntsman out for her. The Huntsman finds her feels bad for her and helps her destroy the Evil Queen.
Oh the seven dwarves do show up only they are gross and not cute like the cartoons.
Snow White and the Huntsman was alright. It was slow at times and predictable. I do not think I have to tell you who her “True love’s first kiss” is. The movie is not terrible mostly because Kristen Stewart was not given a lot of lines so her terrible acting did not kill it. Snow White and the Huntsman is worth seeing at least once if you really want to.
