Everyone has fantasized about what it
would be like to be a movie star. Do not lie yourself that you never have it is
bad for your health. We have all dreamed about what it would be like to see our
faces on a billboard for a new movie and dreamed what it must be like to star
alongside our favorite movie stars. I am more of a TV nerd when it comes to
newer actors I always wondered what it would have been like to be a guest star
on Alias or CSI:NY and meet the casts ( I would most likely be a blubbering
idiot, ask for a hug, and drool over Carmine Giovinazzo from NY and Michael Vartan from Alias haha).
The
main character in The Projectionist
works as a projectionist at a movie theater. The movie was made in 1971 back
when projectors were still running on actual film not digital hard drives. In his
booth he has photos of old movie stars that include Humphrey Bogart and James
Stewart. He starts to dream about himself in several different movie genres-
Noir, Superhero/Comic, Sci-fi, Silent, and New Wave. His thoughts are still
centered around movies as he walks back to his apartment after his shift. When
he gets home he walks into his movie poster covered room and watches another
movie on the TV.
The
movie got off to a decent start and then as it went on the story got and
everything just got out of hand. At one point I guess it was his mind melding
all the different genres or God knows what and it got way too weird. I cannot
even begin to explain what was going on.
The Projectionist started off with the
right idea and just slipped and could not get back on track. As an idea it was
fantastic because his dreams at the beginning are what every movie fan or buff
dreams about. I guess I could say see The
Projectionist but it is not really worth it. Maybe someday someone out in
Hollywood will come up with a better idea about a movie fan dreaming of being
an adored actor. Hopefully is someone ever does make a movie like this it will
be done well and not be horrible because if you can think about it the idea can
either go over really well with the right writing and direction or it could
horribly wrong and be overdone and silly.
